Luther George Park Signage
Luther George Park is a vibrant hub in the heart of Springdale, Arkansas — a centerpiece of the Downtown Springdale Alliance’s bold vision to transform the city with lively public spaces and plazas. Backed by the Walton Family Foundation’s Northwest Arkansas Design Excellence Program, the revitalized park now serves as a critical connector between downtown and the 40-mile Razorback Greenway trail system.
Span, led by John Pobojewski, designed the signage, wayfinding, and placemaking in close partnership with Spackman Mossop Michaels and Trahan Architects. Using natural materials and seamless integration with the landscape, the signage quietly complements its surroundings — thoughtful, refined, and never overpowering.
At the entrance, a striking 7.5-foot dimensional sculpture of the park icon welcomes visitors — an instant landmark and family gathering spot. A creative donor recognition system honors major supporters with hand-selected limestone pavers from a single quarry, and a sculptural grove of dimensional "reeds" celebrates broader fundraising efforts.
